2017 Advent Meditations: Sowing Seeds of Advent

Wednesday, Dec 20, 2017

12:15pm – 1:15pm

A shoot shall come out from the stump of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots.

Isaiah 11:1

Join us for this year’s series of meditations at noon on Wednesdays during Advent.

“In the Bleak Midwinter”:  Nature teaches us how to celebrate, even in the cold of a Canadian winter. Discover how God’s creation can inspire us in the busy seasons of Advent and Christmas.

Our speaker this year will be the Rev Kristine O’Brien, Minister at Trafalgar Presbyterian Church in Oakville where she has served for more than fifteen years. Kristine has just completed a Doctor of Ministry degree at Fuller Seminary in California with a concentration on justice and preaching. She also loves to get her hands (and usually her clothes) dirty in the garden and writes about her growing adventures at bloomingreverend.com.  Lavender, nasturtium and a three-generation purple flag iris she inherited from her mother are her favourite flowers.

We begin with a brief organ recital at noon and after the meditation we join together for lunch and conversation.   Please join us for this time of meditation and reflection as we await the coming of the Christ child.
