Fall Seminar Series

Biblical Background(s): The Bible and the Ancient Near Eastern Context was the theme for a series of three lectures by Dr. John McLaughlin, Associate Professor of Old Testament / Hebrew Bible at the Faculty of Theology at the University of St. Michael’s College, University of Toronto. Dr. McLaughlin was a very engaging speaker and the series was very well received.

Sunday Forums

Sunday Forums are held after worship, usually on the last Sunday of the month. In 2015, these included: in February, David Kirk McLeary from St. Paul’s Bloor Street talking about their ESL program; in September, Noel Ramsey spoke on the Canadian Theological Student’s Conference and the theme of Human Rights; in October, Toshio Ushiroguchi-Pigott spoke on mental health and community, and in November, Rev. Deb Rapport spoke about Arise Ministries.

Heart of the City Speakers Series - A Simple Solution to World Hunger

    Monday, Sep 24, 2018 -

    Time: 7:00pm - 9:00pm

Mary's Meals provides a daily meal to school children living in some of the world's poorest communities. Organized by local volunteer cooks, Mary's Meals attracts chronically hungry children into a classroom where they can receive an education and a nutritious meal. Mary's Meals began serving meals to 200 children in Malawi in 2002. Today, Mary's Meals feeds over 1.25 million children every day in 15 countries. Founder, Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow will share his incredible story of generosity and discovery. He is the author of The Shed That Fed a Million Children. Signed copies of his book will be on sale following his presentation.
