SAGA (St. Andrew’s Gay Association), is a social group that started in the 1970s to provide a welcoming safe space for members of the LGBT community to gather for fellowship and mutual support. Many of its Charter Members still attend today and highly value our continuing support. In the last 15+ years many new friends and supporters have joined as well. Saga welcomes everyone who is interested in supporting diversity and inclusion (and in breaking bread together). Meetings start by gathering together for a potluck supper and then usually include a speaker, a facilitated discussion or a group activity. While many presenters or facilitators are Saga members, we occasionally welcome outside guest speakers. Topics vary widely and have included everything from the Rainbow Railroad to ChatGPT to healthy lifestyles to travelogs.  If this interests you, please consider coming to our January 26th meeting. There is no membership fee…just bring something for the potluck supper!

SAGA welcomes new members and for more information on joining, please contact info@standrewstoronto.org

SAGA will hold its regular monthly fellowship gathering at 6:00 pm on Friday, April 26th in the Great Hall. As usual, we’ll have a potluck supper. Everyone is welcome to attend and to bring food to share with others. After supper, Peter Ross, who is the Clerk of Session here at St. Andrew’s, will talk about “Growth from Apathy to Understanding”. He will discuss a series of personal musings about homosexuality he experienced as he became familiar with its costs and struggles and grew in his understanding of support of the 2SLGBTQI+ community.

The Presbyterian Church in Canada’s Confession to God                                         and LGBTQI People

Adopted on June 6, 2022

The 2022 General Assembly adopted a confession to God and LGBTQI people, confessing the harm caused by homophobia, transphobia, heterosexism and hypocrisy in The Presbyterian Church in Canada, and committing the church to a true change of heart and behaviour. The whole church is called to live out this confession as individuals and communities of faith so that harm does not continue.
