 About Jana Luksts

Jana Luksts is a pianist fiercely dedicated to the performance of contemporary classical music. Most recently, Jana has performed at the Musikiin Aika Festival (Finland), Internationale Fereinkurse für Neue Musik (Germany) and performed with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra (hr-Sinfonieorchester), featuring Brian Ferneyhough’s rarely performed Firecycle Beta.

An advocate of new works by young Canadian composers, Jana’s collaboration with Caution Tape Sound Collective, Quintile, saw the premiere of four new works for two pianos, viola, percussion and bassoon this past year. Internationally, Jana commissioned a large-scale solo piano work from New York City based composer, George Katehis. Orpheus I was filmed and recorded at the DiMenna Center for Classical Music in New York City, and received several subsequent performances in Toronto, Finland and at the Internationales Musikinstitut Darmstadt.
